Odds Of Getting A Hole In One

What are the odds of getting a hole in one? According to Golf Digest, the odds of getting a hole in one on any given 18 holes is 5000 to 1. My question is how can you calculate these odds anyway? Well regardless of how you calculate the odds of getting an Ace, you need to check out this lady: Jacqueline Gange claims to have sunk over 20 holes in one. Or is it hole in ones?

David Duval is back

You may find it hard to believe but Duval is back.  If he doesn’t have some bad luck on Saturday he could have one it.  Take away his 81 and replace it with his Friday score and he is the winner of the British.  I predict he wins or is in contention to win on sunday by the end of the year.  He had some nasty weather and bad bounces on saturday and still had a good attitude ofter he shot the 81.  Good enough that he shot a very respectable 71 on Sunday.  To compare the other meltdown artist John Daly…Daly would have shot an 89 after a round like Duval’s…wait a minute he did!!!

Can sergio finally win a big one?

I like Sergio Garcia.  He seems like a nice guy.  His adidas commercials are good and he has a cool nickname…El Nino.  But can Sergio Garcia get his head straight for four days and win a major?  I think so, if Phil can do it Sergio can do it.  At some point Tiger will not be in the field and Sergio will win one.  Wait a minute…This weekend is a major with NO Tiger.  I think that bodes well for Sergio.  He is playing well and he has gone through so many putters from Taylormade maybe he will find one that works.  I would recommend the New TaylorMade Spider that everyone on the tour is using and winning with.  My prediction…Sergio by four strokes at the TPC on Saturday and then he melts down on Sunday and still wins by one.

Tiger vs the field in the Masters

Tiger is basically even money to win the masters, meaning if you bet $10 you will win $10 more.  So if Tiger is even money that means if I bet the rest of the field I should get even money also…No sportsbook in their right mind would give me the field at even money.  Odds makers are too smart to know that the Tiger woods bet IS the sucker bet.  I am too smart to bet on golf in the first place because there are always too many golfers with a good chance of winning on any given sunday.   If anyone out there wants to bet on tiger and I get everyone else let me know….sucker

Tiger lost

Wow…Geoff ogilvy just won on the PGA tour and all anyone can talk about is how the streak is over.  It is not like it was going to really last.  Tiger is great for golf but some of us are getting tired of people’s unrealistic expectations.  Here is some search data to show the difference between tiger and everyone else.

Think about how intimidating it must be for Golf Pro’s competing against Tiger Woods.

At age 6 Tiger Woods made his first birdie on a 91 yard par three. He Won the Optimist International Junior World at ages 8, 9, 12 and 13! At age 20 he was the Sports Illustrated “Sportsman of the Year”… blah blah, the list goes on and everyone already knows all these facts.

But here are some additional factoids you may find interesting regaurding the number of times certain keywords are searched on the internet. We’ll start with the 2007 PGA Tour positions. (These searches are per month)

Tiger Woods               63,096

Ernie Els                     970

Woody Austin            45

John Senden              7

Aaron Oberholser     2

So Tiger is pretty much a Giant on the world wide web and not just on the golf course. Just for the record George W Bush only gets searched 30,853 a month. Maybe Tiger should run for office??

Thanks for the comments so far on the new redesign.  Let us know what you think by making a comment on the deal or using the contact us form.  The main reason the site was changed was to make our life easier.  The site now loads much faster and should be much easier to navigate.  Thanks to Peter in Texas for all the help with the site.  We will continue working hard to bring you the best golf deals on the internet.

Why can’t tiger hit it down the middle?

Tiger is the best Scrambler on tour.  That is not the stat that most tour pros want to own because it means you in the tall stuff way more than you should be.  That is scary to the rest of the pros on tour.  If tiger could ever figure out how not to spray the ball all over the course with his driver he could dominate the tour…and by dominate the tour I mean win a few more tournaments than he does right now.  Last year Tiger was ranked near the bottom of PGA pros in accuracy.  He hit 48% of his fairways compared to say Scott Verplank who hit 81% of fairways.  Yea, yea…I know what you are thinking “But Tiger hits it so far that he drives it THROUGH the fairway.”  No he doesn’t he just sprays it.  Yea, yea…I know what you are thinking “But Tiger is so strong that Tiger hitting out of the rough is like Fred Funk hitting off the fairway.”  Wrong again genius.  Tiger wants to hit off the fairway as much as Corey Pavin does who is usually 40 yards behind him.  Tiger is one of the greatest putters ever. Period.  Tiger is one of the greatest scramblers ever. Period.  Until he can learn how to hit it down the middle please stop talking about how great of a driver he is, because he is NOT. Period.

Tiger Undefeated???

Don’t make me laugh!!! This isn’t football…It will be absolutely amazing if Tiger wins the grand slam of golf or if he wins 1/4 of the 2008 PGA tourneys. I would bet that Las Vegas would give odds at 1 million to 1 that Tiger would go undefeated. I don’t want to hear it anymore because it is just NOT Possible so why even talk about it. Woods won’t say anything to reporters when he is asked about the possibility of a perfect season but he is laughing his guts out that the question is even being asked.

Hal Sutton said it best “Anybody who knows golf knows that ain’t going to happen. You can only own this game for a certain period of time. Even if your name is Tiger Woods, you don’t own it forever.” I have about as much chance of winning a PGA tour event as Tiger has of winning them all this season. He is 2 and 0…even the media didn’t start talking about a perfect season with the patriots until they won about 10 games and we all know what happened to them.
